On Friday, April 1, WTJU will celebrate its 65th birthday with a special three-hour broadcast from 6 - 9 p.m. The first hour features an audio documentary about WTJU, followed by a two-hour live broadcast showcasing four live performances.

Today, the Virginia Film Festival announced that the 35th annual VAFF will take place from November 2-6, 2022. The Virginia Film Festival is a program of the University of Virginia and the Office of the Provost and Vice Provost for the Arts.

Memory Project Resuming Civil Rights Bus Tour

The Memory Project of the University of Virginia’s Democracy Initiative and its co-sponsor, the Jefferson School African American Heritage Center, are pleased to announce the Charlottesville Civil Rights Bus Tour. Scheduled for June 19-26, 2022, the tour will traverse the American South to visit former plantations, Civil Rights historical sites, museums and memorials to inspire honest, inclusive narratives about the ongoing struggles for racial justice.

After moving to an all-virtual format last year, the Virginia Festival of the Book, a signature program of the Virginia Humanities Council and the Virginia Center for the Book, returns this year to celebrate books, reading, literacy, and literary culture with a five-day program of both in-person and virtual events beginning on March 16.

A New Endowment at The Fralin Museum of Art at UVA Provides Funding for Acquisitions and Care for Collections

The Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia announces the establishment of The Ruth C. Cross Endowment for Acquisitions and Collections Care. The $1 million endowment is created by the late museum donors’ family. The Fralin Museum of Art’s longstanding patron, volunteer, and friend, Ruth Cunningham Cross passed away in 2021.
